Use this meeting to discuss fire safety requirements
1. The "Fire Triangle" are the three elements that can start and feed a fire. They are oxygen, heat, and fuel.
2. Oxygen is all air that can breath into the fire, sustaining combustion. Heat is anything hot or can create a spark. Fuel can be chemicals or combustible materials.
3. An easy way to prevent fires is to keep the work area free of debris, trash, and combustible materials.
4. To keep machinery clean of possible fire causing materials, look for any build-up of residue around the engine, exhaust systems and belts and chains.
5. Store flammable fuels and materials only in approved safety containers and designate high risk areas as "no smoking" areas.
6. To prevent sparking or electrical hazards, check power cords and electrical tools for defects.
7. All fire fighting equipment shall be periodically inspected, maintained, and should never be blocked.
8. There should be fire fighting equipment kept near hot-work operations and a designated fire watch during all hot work. Fire watch must stand watch during operations and for an additional 30-minutes after operations to ensure a fire doesn't start.
9. In case of an emergency, know where the emergency exits are located.
10. In what other ways can we prevent fires in the workplace?
