Walking and Working Surfaces Inspection

1. Are aisles, passageways and stairwells properly illuminated?

2. Is each employee on walking/working surfaces protected from tripping in or stepping into or through holes (including skylights)?

3. Are hallways, stairwells and lobbies kept free of trash and debris and not used for storage?

4. Are standard guardrails provided wherever aisle or walkway surfaces are elevated more than 48 inches above any adjacent floor or the ground?

5. Are work surfaces kept clean and dry or are appropriate means taken to assure the surfaces are slip-resistant?

6. Are work positions, machinery, pits or holes, and hazardous operations adequately guarded?

7. Are workers protected from sharp objects which might pierce the feet or cut the hands (e.g., machinery, food handling and storage, sawing and cutting)?

8. Are workers protected from fixed objects that may cause injury, such as sharp machine edges?

9. Are fire aisles, access to stairways, and fire equipment kept clear?

10. Are exits marked by a readily visible sign?

11. Are ways of exit access and the doors to exits to which they lead clearly recognizable as such?

12. Are exit doors readily accessible and unlocked from the inside at all times?
