Struck-by Hazards in Tree Care Inspection

1. Has a Drop Zone area been set up prior to the start of work?

2. Is an authorized person in charge of the Drop Zone? This person will communicate to others when it is safe to enter during operations.

3. Is the Drop Zone barricaded and clearly marked?

1. Are all employees wearing the correct PPE? (helmets, gloves, eye/face protection, etc.)

2. Have all fall arrest systems been inspected and in good condition?

3. Have all blocks, pulleys, slings, cable hoists, ropes, etc. been inspected and in good condition?

1. Have all mobile equipment been through a pre-use inspection?

1. Have pre-arranged communications been established before starting operations?

2. Is everyone working on the project able to see and/or hear each other to communicate clearly? If not, is there a signal person that is able to communicate with all employees in blind spots?

3. Have emergency procedures been discussed prior to the start of operations?
