Sharp Safety in Agriculture Inspection

1. Are employees trained on sharp exposures and the controls in place to prevent cuts, lacerations, or puncture wounds?

2. When injecting livestock, are employees trained on proper technique, use, and disposal of injection needles?

3. Are the employees trained on the first aid and medical treatment procedures that follow an accident or injury?

4. Is there personnel onsite certified in first aid and basic life support?

5. Are workers trained on the appropriate PPE that must be used to reduce the risk of a sharps injury?

1. Are workers wearing hand protection such as leather gloves, or other forms of cut-resistant gloves when performing tasks that could result in sharp injuries.

2. When necessary, are workers wearing cut resistant clothing, such as aprons, pants, sleeves?

3. When necessary, are workers wearing puncture resistant boots?

1. Are machine guards all in place and functioning appropriately?

2. Are lockout tagout protocols in place?

3. Are tools and equipment that may cause a sharps injury stored in a designated area with appropriate guarding or sheathing?
