Portable Fire Extinguisher Inspection

1. Are Fire Extinguishers available on site?

2. Is the Fire Extinguisher located in its designated place?

3. Is the Fire Extinguisher visible or there is signage indicating where it is located?

4. Is the Fire Extinguisher easily accessible?

5. Is the pressure gauge on the Fire Extinguisher in the operable range or position?

6. Is the locking pin in place and in good condition?

7. Is the type-classification-NFPA rating and instructions label readable and not faded, torn, or distorted?

8. Does the Fire Extinguisher feel full when lifted?

9. Are Fire Extinguishers on wheels verified that the tires, wheels, carriage, hose, and nozzle are acceptable?

10. If a non rechargeable extinguisher is being inspected, operate the push-to-test pressure indicator.

1. Is a tag or label securely attached that indicates that maintenance was performed?

2. Does the tag or label include the month and year of last maintenance, person who performed the work, and their company?

3. If an internal inspection was conducted on the Fire Extinguisher, is there a verification-of-service collar located around the neck of the container?

1. Is the Fire Extinguisher inspected monthly and a record of the inspection is maintained?

2. Are records of the inspections maintained for at least 12 months?
