Orchard Ladder Inspection

1. Is the ladder free of any damage?

2. Is the ladder structurally in good condition?

3. Is the ladder missing components or does it have any loose parts?

4. Are all steps or rungs tight and secure to the side rails?

5. Are all movable parts tested to see that they operate without binding and without too much free play?

6. Does the ladder have two sections that operate in brackets or guides allowing for adjustable lengths identifying it as an extension ladder?

7. Are all labels intact and readable?

1. Are ladders positioned so the angle isn’t too steep or flat prior to use?

2. Was a tripod pole being used so that the ladder is not leaning against a tree?

3. Is the ladder set firmly in the ground, avoiding soft spots or holes?

4. Are non-slip shoes and tight fitting clothing being warn to avoid causing a trip?

5. Are three points of contact maintained while climbing?

6. Is your belt buckle area maintained between the side rails?

1. Are all workers instructed not to stand on the top cap or top step?

2. Are all workers advised to never step out on branches?

3. Are all workers advised to avoid working over people, equipment,or other objects?

4. Are all workers instructed to climb down off the ladder if a tractor approaches?
