Hitching and Towing Agricultural Equipment Inspection

1. Is the operator properly trained on the use of the equipment and towing procedures?

2. Is the operator aware of the three-car rule when transporting agricultural equipment on a roadway?

1. Seatbelt is used and free of damage?

2. Does the farm equipment have a protective rollover structure that is in good condition?

3. Are the warning flashers, flags, lights, reflective tape, and slow moving vehicle emblems functional?

4. Was a full pre use inspection performed on the tractor prior to the tow? (check lights, brakes, tires, chains..etc.)

1. Is the towing equipment rated for the weight limit of the load being towed?

2. Is the load properly attached and hitched to the drawbar of the tractor?

3. Is the towable material visible to other vehicles during transport?

4. Is the surface of the towing equipment stable and the environment allowing room for safe maneuvering?

1. Are there any cracks in the towing device(s)?

2. Are there any bends in the towing device(s)?

3. Is there any corrosion in the towing device(s)?

4. Are there any chain links that are stretched or deformed?

5. Are all cables free of bird's nest or kinks?
