Fixed Ladder Inspection Checklist

1. Is the structural integrity of the ladder free from damaged, worn, or loose rungs and side rails, and check for corrosion or damage to cages and guards?

2. Are the hardware conditions free of corrosion or damage to bolts, rivets, and anchorage points?

3. Is the platform free of defects in handrails, brackets, and climbing devices?

4. Is the ladder free of any oil, ice, or debris that could make the ladder slippery?

5. Is the ladder free of any obstructions and clear any clutter that could block access to the ladder base or platform?

6. Are safety devices properly installed? f the ladder is over 20 ft tall, check that it has a cage or other safety device attached?

7. Safety devices - If a cage is installed, check that it extends at least 42 in above the top of the landing and down the ladder to a point between 7 and 8 ft above the base?
