Eye and Face Struck-by Hazard Inspection

1. Is there a company policy for eye protection?

2. Does the eye protection chosen for employees include side protection (wrap around, side protectors, or goggles)?

3. Is there an additional face protection policy in place when grinding, sanding, welding, or cutting?

4. If employees wear prescription glasses, are accomodations in place for them to receive safety glasses or goggles that fit over their glasses, or in some way incorporates the prescription in the design?

5. Do employees keep their eye protection in good condition? If no, are they replaced when damaged or scratched?

1. Are housekeeping inspections conducted on a regular basis?

2. Are workspaces kept clear and free of debris or waste?

3. In spaces that there is a collection of debris (lathes, presses, etc.) are they regularly swept or otherwise cleaned up?

4. Is there proper drainage in the work area to keep the floors dry?

5. Are spill kits readily available to employees?

6. Are spills cleaned up quickly?

7. Are used absorbents disposed of safely and quickly?
