Extension Ladder Inspection

1. Has a competent person visually inspected the extension ladder before use for any defects?

2. Is the ladder free of any damage?

3. Is the ladder structurally in good condition?

4. Is the ladder missing components or does it have any loose parts?

5. Are all steps or rungs tight and secure to the side rails?

6. Are all movable parts tested to see that they operate without binding and without too much free play?

7. Does the ladder have two sections that operate in brackets or guides allowing for adjustable lengths identifying it as an extension ladder?

8. Are all labels intact and readable?

1. Is the extension ladder against a stable structure that can withstand the intended load?

2. Is the area around the bottom and top of the ladder clear of equipment, materials and tools?

3. Is sufficient room provided to step off the ladder safely?

4. Is the ladder set at the proper angle? (1/4 of the ladder's working length away from the wall)

5. Is the top of the ladder three feet above the surface to be accessed or secured at its top?

6. Is the base of the ladder set so that the bottom sits securely and both side rails are evenly supported?

7. Are the ladder's dogs secured before climbing?
