Exits and Exit Route Inspection

1. Are exit routes free from obstructions? This includes any materials or equipment, permanently or temporarily in the exit route.

2. Do exit routes lead to an outside area and not a dead-end corridor or a locked room?

3. Are exit routes adequately lighted so an employee with normal vision can see along the route?

4. Is each exit clearly visible and marked by a sign reading "Exit"?

5. Is each exit route door free of decorations or signs that obscure visibility of the door?

6. Are signs posted along the exit access indicating the direction of travel to the nearest exit?

7. Are doorways or passages along an exit that are not an exit are identified as "Not an Exit" or identified by a sign indicating its actual use?
