Use this Crane inspections checklist in daily routine which can help detect possible issues and fix them before they become expensive or irreversible.
1. Check that lubricating oil, fuel, coolant and hydraulic fluids are at the proper levels. Make sure all fluids meet recommended specifications.

2. Check batteries and add water if required.

3. Check air pressure tanks for correct operating pressure. Drain moisture.

4. Inspect and test all brakes and clutches for proper adjustment and operation. If handling near capacity loads, check holding and lifting capability with load a few inches off the ground.

5. Visually inspect each component of the machine that is used for lifting, swinging, or lowering the load.

6. Inspect all wire ropes, sheaves, drums, and rigging hardware. All hooks must have safety catches; any hook that is deformed or cracked must be removed from service. Check all swivels for freedom of rotation.

7. Check all safety devices, limit switches, instruments and lights.

8. Check all operating mechanisms such as sheaves, drums, brakes, locking mechanisms, boom, jib, outriggers, hydraulic cylinders, and hoses.

9. Check the turntable connections and welds for cracks and loose bolts. Replace any loose bolts; do not retighten as they may be stretched.
