Aerial lift devices are the ideal way to reach higher trees as they make work easier and safer when used correctly. The following are key controls to have in place when using an aerial device.
1. Equipment is not missing any machine guards or warning devices?

2. The aerial device manufacturers’ instructions is readily available and followed for all maintenance requirements and operation instructions?

3. A visual inspection of items specified in the equipment manufactures manual is completed daily?

4. Only qualified personnel are permitted to operate aerial devices?

5. Devices are equipped with an approved point of attachment on which to secure a personal fall arrest system?

6. Operators wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as specified in the equipment manual. Including but not limited to: fall protection hard hats (class E if working near electrical conductors), eye/face protection, leg protection when using a chainsaw, steel toed footwear, and hearing protection?
